Update on Cricket Club redevelopment    1 September, 2020

As Parish Council Chairman, I would like to keep everyone informed and assure you that there has been dialogue between the Millennium Green Committee, the PC and Hinton Estate.

Willy, Nick and I (representing the PC and MGC) were over there earlier today at the invitation of Ben Seymour, manager of Hinton Estate, to observe the process of identifying where the existing footpath and boundary is. Willie and I were satisfied that this was being carried out properly, using established triangulation points.

The Estate owned cricket pitch is now a construction site and as such will be blocked off to the public with heras fencing. This means no more walking round the cricket pitch boundary for the duration of construction. We have been assured that once the building works have been completed, access will be restored.

Following talks with Ben, the heras fencing will be erected in a way that maintains access to the MG from Green Lane along the connecting lane, and also provides vehicle access to the MG from Branch Road, with parking spaces for a couple of cars. The play area will continue to be accessible from all sides. I would add that the construction company had intended to block off a greater area, including access to Green Lane, so thank you to Ben for listening to our concerns and keeping the above areas accessible.

The next PC meeting is on 15 September when there will be an update on the building works. I believe Ben Seymour will attend. It is highly probable this will be another Zoom meeting; see PC website and village notice board for details.

David Turvey
PC Chairman
